So tonight's dinner is a lemon, chilli, chicken. Not being overly in love with heat, I thought I needed a cooling agent, the obvious choice being mayonnaise, but can we perform homemade?
Ingredients are 3 egg yolks, 300 ml of oil, ideally a nut oil, less flavour from the oil equals nicer mayonnaise, although you can use any oil depending on your love of that oil. Lemon and mustard.
If you don't own a food processor (our's just recently broke) then you need a bowl, whisk and strong arm.
Begin whisking the eggs and a teaspoon'ish of mustard, then slowly drip/pour the oil into the eggs and continuously whisk, a second pair of hands is very useful. Keep whisking and gently adding the oil until desired consistency achieved. Viola! It really is that easy.
Season with salt and pepper and a splash of lemon juice, whisk once more to mix. Hooray! try it today.
I now am the owner of 5 pair's of Vibram Five-finger shoes, and the evidence to my consipracy grows from strength to strength. I believe that the manufacturer Vibram feel we live in a heavily male dominated world and are slowly filtering into the populous their "feminising agenda" By pushing the paleo, men being men, like when we lived in caves all rugged and barefoot, running through streams, climbing trees, rocks and mountains all in "barefoot technology" Grrr!. They are getting men excited about "this seasons" styles and colours and the men of the house are starting to have more than 3 pairs of shoes e.g. smart, exercise, casual. Thus a growing sympathy for females and their seeming nessesity for shoes is arising.
I encourage all men failing prey to this agenda, myself included, to stimulate there maleness by grunting more, washing less and more general tom foolery!
A couple of weeks ago saw the arrival of Oscar Atlas Peach and it was all as planned!!
We had an all natural home water birth with no medical intervention, although we did have 3 midwives observing! He was a bouncing 10lbs 9.5oz As you can well imagine my wife is a pretty amazing and empowered person to have such a calm and quiet birthing.
A great deal of thanks needs to go to Alison McMahon for her coaching and assistance of the hypnobirthing method. Check her website for more details HypnoBirthing.
Another amazing choice we made was the use of homeopathic remedies prior to and during the birthing. I would highly recommend everyone to seek out a local homeopath. In the words of one of our midwife's "whatever you took to deliver the placenta really worked!"
Apologies to the squeemish but we also maximised the amazing product that is the placenta. The placenta is very full of energy and nutrition extremely valuable to mum. It can assist with her healing, energy, milk production, return of the uterus and if preserved can be used to assist mum as she goes through the menopause!! So how did we use it?
Firstly within about an hour I blended strawberries, banana, orange, half an apple, water and a large chunk of raw placenta into a very delicious smoothie. Seriously, you could only taste the fruit, I can attest to that as can my daughter, my sister and of course my wife. I made another one of these the following day.
We then had the rest prepared, dehydrated, ground finely and encapsulated into capsules which will keep in the fridge and or the freezer. Check out IPEN's website for more details. The placenta capsules are very effective and their effect is almost instant especially for energy or a hormonal dip. The more greusome thing for you all to cringe over is I have pictures and footage of all of the above! That's all from me, one lucky man.
After 30 minutes reading a great book entitled Old Wife's Tales, whilst my daughter was at Yogabug's this morning, which by the way is very good. We took a short trip to my good friend and CHEK Practitioner, Duncan Reeve in Henley. A strong butter filled espresso later and we jumped straight into our workout, consisting of some squatting, pulling, dynamic and explosive lungeing, with rest intervals of springing on and off bosu's and other balance paraphernalia, following the lead of my daughter, Amber who is 5. I have to say I think her "play" was more demanding than our "workout" Great fun!!
I have also taken delivery of a box of meat from Laverstoke Park today, I've been meaning to try them for some time, I spent a little more than my usual weekly budget for meat and it looks, at face value that I have less meat. So straight off the bat slightly more expensive than my trusty local organic butcher. Let's see how it tastes and last's, feedback will duely follow.
Keep your food as fresh and as free from nasties as possible this month.
If you've noticed an increase of runners/joggers on the streets that is due to up and coming races such as the London Marathon, and it is around now that the very long training runs begin.
Now the niggles and injuries have a tendency to surface and I've seen an increase in clients receiving treatment. Here's some really simple advice to anyone upping the mileage at the moment.
Listen to your body, don't force it.
Maintain your hydration and salt levels.
If you pick up an injury get treatment!
If your injury means no running then you can still get out and walk. Walk for as long as you were planning to run.
Sleep. Get lot's of and good quality sleep.
Thoroughly warm up and cool down.
Hope your training, whatever your pleasure is indeed that, FUN!
So clearly 11 is the number this year, have you noticed this too? If not see if this works for you, your age this year e.g. 33 plus the year of your birth e.g. '78 = 111 or 6 plus '05 = 11. It's spooky!
11 is my families lucky number so we expect 2011 to be awesome, but we must take action and step towards it to ensure it comes to us. Sitting and hoping with just words won't achieve a thing! Although there is great power in doing nothing.
I practice doing nothing everyday it is a golden opportunity to be with self for self exploration, I spend a great deal of time working with others to explore and find out how they are, what are their goals, what are their stresses and stressors. So it makes sense that I spend time with me. I would suggest to all that time alone is a treat well worth the effort. With a continued and consistant effort extremely rewarding.
Take some time today, to spend a moment with your best friend.
After investigation of Jake's tail chasing, it was decided that it would be best if Jake went to a handler early to advance his training, so after only around 5 months Jake happily left this morning with his new handler Richard.
And we now welcome 8 week old "Bear" yes Bear! Head on over to Facebook to see images and I will soon upload video footage to my You Tube channel, Peachylifecoach.
While there's crazy talk this morning regarding whether a child at the age of 8 can be labelled a bigot, racist or homophobic. I'd like to drop a chuckle bomb on the subject, let's be honest a lot of adults don't understand the language they use, so how can we expect children to?
This morning I was talking to Amber about heaven, she brought it up, and I asked her if she knew the opposite, she replied "Devon"
Beautiful day today, everyone woke in a good mood, so we all slept well. Breakfast was healthy and wholesome, then the gentle plan of the day. A trip to the butcher's, not any butcher's, but the mighty Macey's of Cookham. Amber helps out the shop close up by cleaning and carrying and I stock up the freezer for a week.
Then we took a walk around Odney with some other home educating families.
Coffee and refreshments.
Cozy up on the sofa, and soon enough dinner, Amber to bed, a bit of quiet time for me and Louise, then hit the sack. Lovely jubbly!
If the earth were only a few feet in diameter, floating a few feet above a field somewhere, people would come from everywhere to marvel at it. People would walk around it marveling at its big pools of water, its little pools and the water flowing between the pools. People would marvel at the bumps on it, and the holes in it, and they would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding it and the water suspended in the gas. The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the ball, and in the water. The people would declare it precious because it was the only one and they would protect it so that it would not be hurt. The ball would be the greatest wonder known, and people would come to behold it, to be healed, to gain knowledge, to know beauty and wonder how it could be. People would love it, and defend it with their lives, because they would some how know that their lives, their own roundness, could be nothing without it. If the earth were only a few feet indiameter.
What a great Christmas and New Year I've had, lot's of excess, lot's of family and rest time, the snow was enjoyable and better than this grey wet stuff!!
Last night saw the showing of "Britain's Fattest Man" not really being a fan of documentaries that seem to poke fun at people's misfortunes, I made the descision to watch this one. One thing I do not understand is that, if a council is paying to feed and "care" for a man who cannot walk due to his size, how is it possible that he maintains his weight? During a pre-op stay in hospital and on a calorie restricted diet, he surprisingly lost weight! Now why, whilst under "care" in his home did he not have his diet restricted?
So, it dawned upon me...do you know anyone who is considered "super obese" and cannot lose weight, unable to exercise then get them to contact me, no fee's, no catches, just straight help and real "care"
Here's hoping your winter excesses weren't too much!
I love the organic movement, although I dislike the need for organics or free range identification. Afterall our food should be sustainable and caring for the soil, plants and animals.
But where do you sit? Many love the idea and would like to "go organic" but find the cost too high, I'm not going to soapbox about the ultimate cost of the alternative...this time! But would like to throw you a suggestion.
If enough people consistently choose organic, free range, local, ethically produced, low carbon foods then in the end the food makers have to listen, we reach a tipping point, voting with your fork, so to speak. And based on that theory, you can vote 3 times a day!
From this day forward make one meal, even if it's once a day, a week, a month or a year environmentally, nutritionally and sustainably sound.
I tried to convince Amber this morning that it's not snow
until it settles, she wasn't convinced so rushed outside in her
pyjamas, wellies and holding an umbrella to see for herself!
This morning however, in the cold, saw Day 1 of my 100 day gong, my last
gong finished 3 day's early on day 97, I was gutted! It in fact dawned
on me on day 98 as I readied myself for the days practice I had the realisation that I
completely missed yesterday's practice. I sulked and pitied myself for
weeks!
Quite simply it's 100 days consectutive practice, dedicating time to yourself, or to quote Paul Chek "What you do for the "I" you do for the "WE" What we do for the "WE" you do for the "ALL" With each practice, I improve myself. When I improve myself, I improve humanity. An improved humanity brings more heaven to earth.
Why!?
Because "I" am worth it! :-)
I'll keep you posted on our progress, might post a few pics or some videos to my You Tube channel www.youtube.com/peachylifecoach
Apparently you and your family are more likely to be of an ideal weight if you shop to a list. If this is true I would say it is down to a restriction of "impulse buy's" you know what you want and where to go to get it, so you spend less time browsing the shelves.
Supermarkets spend a fortune to understand the psychology of their customers and the layout of the store and it's shelves, what to put in the middle of an aisle, what to put at eye line or child line, what to put on either side if the aisle, so while your grabbing one thing you kids are looking at something else!
Even if you don't do a list try to picture in your mind where in the shop are the items that you need and what items do you need prior to entering the shop, this way you'll make better choices and the phantom drop it in the trolley won't strike quite as much.
One way that works in our house is the wife writes the list and she sends the man in to buy, I hate browsing and wasting money, so I'm in and out in a flash!
If you've not seen me personally in the somewhat freaky looking fingered or toed shoes then watch out!! Barefooting is on a serious increase and in the next year you'll see more mainstream manufacturers getting in on the act including Merrell and New Balance.
Beat the bandwagon jump and visit primal lifestyle now and get yourself the most comfy shoes you'll ever put on. If you don't see a style you like on their website, browse the five-finger site and then e-mail primal lifestyle to see what they've got in stock :-)
Word of caution, watch out for fakes, you will not get "cheap" five fingers, it is impossible! Even ordering from the US is made difficult.
For a fiver off use my discount code PEACH923 when checking out or ordering.
After 3 day's of simmering, my pig's feet soup is ready! I can already hear the "blurghs!" but seriously there is nothing to "blurgh" about.
Firstly, I hate wastage, why should an animal die just so we can eat one small part of it, it's far more sensible to use the whole of the animal, providing that animal was happy and healthy that is!
It seems we are so sensitive to real food these days', we rarely consume the really nutritiously dense parts of the animals anymore. Boiling and simmering down bones with a little vinegar, to help leach nutrients from the bone, is chocked full of nutrition that is great for our bones, our skin, our gut...
Here's how its done. Pigs feet covered in water with a splash of vinegar. Bring to the boil then simmer for at least 24 hours. Drain, pick out the meat if desired which you can then food process or leave chunky, add back in with chopped veg and a little seasoning for your soup. Freeze or consume straight away.
Alternatively you can take the completely drained product and freeze in blocks as stock or drink a small glass every morning! It may sound gross to some of you but is truly yummy. And if you do not fancy pig's feet then don't sling out that chicken carcass, cover and simmer. Simple.
So today was our first puppy training meet, Jake is now 4 months old, well nearly! and we had our first meet at the dog section in Sulhamstead. It was really nice to see the pups playing together without too much boistrous behaviour, at this stage just confirming the basics such as sit, leave, down, kill, maul et cetera! Obviously we'd been doing the latter since we got him, it's an excellent way of controlling the family members. Here's a couple of pic's from today.
Death. Is the action or fact of dying, the end of vital processes in a cell and tissue.
We are more than cells and tissues.
We own this body. "This" is "My" hand.
But who am I? The possessor, the spiritual being, the consciousness that conceives, governs and constructs this mind and body.
We endure birth and life for what purpose?
How great is death? If it is the result of life. the end of the rainbow, the pot of gold.
Death brings equilibrium and healing to the body after the disturbance of life has gone. What equilibirum, what healing awaits the spirit? One knows. One Is ALL there is.
Wow! What a fantastic weekend that has just passed. For a break we packed up and hauled off to my mum and dads for the weekend, it always brings calm to the mind and seperation from life, which we all need now and again. For a real summer feel we drove to the coast, near Lymington which was brilliant, really windy, which cleared my head and gave me great energy. I find the sea an amazing, abundant source of chi.
A trip to my mum and dads local generated some strange looks as the strange foreigners with strange feet walked in! Yep, 3 of us wearing five-finger shoes, always guaranteed to generate conversation! A big thank you to Matthew Wallden for introducing me to them (www.primallifestyle.com)
As always when I go to my parents I love to take my UI (Ultimate Instrument) and create those concerned gazes that only parents can give you, and work out in their garden!
The best way to coach is to lead by example, I teach my clients to aim for perfection as this is the best model, however to hit perfection 100% of the time can often be impossible for some lifestyles. So the second best option is the 80/20 rule. A very simple model to follow is to be good 80% of the time and your body will cope with 20% of "life" I do recommend that you figure out what that 20% is going to be.
I've just had my 20% this weekend, Saturday night we indulged in some pizza's, a little ice cream, some alcohol, video games and a late night. Now you can alway's improve the quality of your 20% going for organic alcohol and homemade pizzas as an example, or ensuring that when your 20% is over, it is truely over, that's IT, NO MORE. Don't let it carry on, if there's stuff left, throw it out, give it to a neigbour, take it to the office, just get back on your 80% asap.
Most importantly...Be happy and forgive yourself!
So what's your 20%? For me it's generally food but for you that might be coffee, exercise (too much or too little), late night's, a little TV or a movie, an hour or two on a games console, what ever it is, recognise and acknowledge that it is your 20% or that perhaps it should be, are you doing it too much?
Well i'm finally getting over my daughter's birthday celebration's! Who knew that organising a 5 year old's birthday could be so tiring! What with assembling a no instruction 30 ft gazebo, driving 80 miles to get some raw milk and cream so that we could make ice cream at 11:30pm the night before, getting up at 6am so that everyone's fed and watered, out before 8 for her nails to be done, the list goes on!
Please don't read that though and think I didn't enjoy doing it! I adore my little girl and she's only 5 once!
I will be posting a video very soon regarding the benefits of raw milk plus some pictures of the birthday party. I will admit that once the day had drawn to a close I did indulge in a cold organic beer! Cheers Kevin ;-)
Live your life to the full and create as many moments as possible.
my healthy eating detox is progressing, the main premise and content is all good and more importantly it works! I am working on the aesthetics of it all at the moment, it has to look right for all you guy's afterall! All should be complete within the next few weeks :-)
well I am slowly managing to find time to generate the content, style and theme for my website but phew it's time consuming...that's why when you pay someone to do it it costs so much!! If I had to pay myself my hourly rate for my own website this would bankrupt me!
Thankfully I am fueling myself according to my own rules and guidelines and I have enough energy between clients to thump away at this keyboard!
ahh the fun shennanigans of trying to establish a web prescence again, whilst working in and on my business, this one's got to be short as time is precious!
No doubt the look and feel of the site will change a lot over the next few day's, please bear with me and keep coming back to see how it's getting on!
